They were able to make things perfect but not all of them were good they had too give up many things to be perfect. They lost the rights of most colors like red and only some people like The Giver and Johnas could see them because they could see things others couldn't. They made it so everyone and everything were so normal that it had nothing cool about it.
They gave up people, fresh air, animals, fresh water, sunlight, storms, rain, color, and pretty much everything. I don't see any advantages of giving up most of this stuff, you need fresh air and sunlight. Some disadvantages are you don't get to have pets, you don't know what wind feels like against your face and through your hair.

Some advantages of giving up memories would be a weight off of your shoulder. If it was a bad memory I think it would make you feel better because then we wouldn't have the feeling of regret of something you did bad that you regret doing. Some disadvantages of giving up some of your memories would be, if you had good memories or memories that made you realize something you'd want to keep those memories so you didn't forget what you learned or enjoyed. ~Kelsey

Sounds like they are just trying to ruin everybodys lives by not letting them make their own choices. The two main disadvantages I think are; they couldn't experience these things, get used to them, or know them. The other is no one got to be themselves. The advantage is that everyone is the same, no one is different, everything is perfect.

This question was worded badly and was very hard for me to understand so I hope I answer it correctly. The communitee gave up many things many years ago. Things such as color, storms, and animals are included in that list. A lot of the things forbiden are just sily things to me. I can auctually understand why they are banned though. Many people have favorite seasons, pets, and color. If they are all taken away, they the people will not know about them and not have a favorite. It would be a very bad thing to do in my opinion, but if that is their idea of a perfect community, then they can do that to their people.

I agree with Tristan. when they got rid of animals, they got rid of attacks and the heartbreak when a loyal pet dies, but they also got rid of the comfort that only an animal can bring.
